Southern California Bareboat Vacations

Maybe you don't live here in Southern California, but you'd like to sail here. We don't blame you ... Dana Point is in the center of a gorgeous cruising ground that extends over 100 miles from end to end. It includes California’s eight channel islands, five of which are part of the Channel Islands National Park, and one of which – Santa Catalina – is a fabled cruisers’ paradise unto itself. Seven major harbors are within reach on the mainland, ranging from the largest cities in America – Los Angeles and San Diego – to smaller, more scenic ports like Newport Beach. There’s great sailing all year round, when you charter with Aventura Sailing.

South Orange County has good air access from all over America through John Wayne Airport - Orange County. Aventura is freeway close to the airport. A large grocery store which can supply all your provisioning needs is close to our Dana Point harbor home, and we can help you with all your needs.

Whether you're on a mooring at Emerald Bay at Catalina, cruising through Newport Bay, under sail on the way to San Diego, heeled over in flat water under the breakwater at Hurricane Gulch in the Long Beach - Los Angeles complex, or just cruising offshore, you'll find Southern California a complete and exciting place to cruise. Sea life in the ocean is almost inevitable, and night life ashore is too - unless you want the peace and quiet of a lonely anchorage like Santa Barbara Island, part of the Channel Islands National Park.

The boat you get from Aventura is fully equipped for your trip. With a full galley, complete and comfortable head, pressure water shower, stereo (often with cockpit speakers), barbecue, ice box or refrigerator, and pretty much all the comforts of home. It's anything but "bare" in that sense. For a small extra fee, we'll throw in a dinghy with an outboard, and you'll be able to get wherever you need to go between your boat and land.
