Boats 31 through 34 feet
If you have
already passed your basic exam, there is NO WRITTEN
TEST for the Intermediate Course.
It is 100% hands-on, on the water practice in three lab sessions, each 3
hours long.
Successful completion of all three lab sessions qualifies you to charter
boats through 34 ft.
Lab Topics:
Docking and Mooring
Practice docking larger boats, and learn to pick up a mooring
Southern California style, the way you will at Catalina island.
Sail Shape and Trim
Get out of the breakwater and go sailing on an intermediate boat with
your instructor and six or fewer students. You'll learn how to
adjust the sails for different wind conditions and points of sail, so
the boat will really get up and go.
Anchoring
Practice one of the most important skills a sailor can have. When you
get to that quiet cove or special spot, where there is no marina or
moorings, how do you park the boat? With good anchorage skills, you'll
be secure in many great places most sailors can't go, and be ready to
face all kinds of weather conditions, too.
